It’s official, most Fall River area incumbents have a clear path back to their jobs

For those living in Greater Fall River don’t expect to see many races for district and county elected positions.

Tuesday’s 5 p.m. deadline came and went with just one local race being contested.

In the 4th Bristol District, incumbent Republican Steven Howitt, of Seekonk, is being challenged by Democrat Paul Jacques, of Rehoboth.

Howitt is currently serving his third term in office and was previously a member of the Seekonk Board of Selectmen. An Attleboro fireman, Jacques is making his first run for the Statehouse and currently serves as the Legislative Agent for the Professional Fire Fighters of Massachusetts.

Beyond Howitt and Jacques the followed incumbents are running unchallenged for their respective seats:

Governor’s Councilor Joseph Ferreira

1st Bristol and Plymouth State Sen. Michael Rodrigues

5th Bristol Rep. Patricia Haddad

6th Bristol Rep. Carole Fiola

7th Bristol Rep. Alan Silvia

8th Bristol Rep. Paul Schmid III

Bristol County Commissioner John Mitchell

Bristol County Commissioner Paul Kitchen

Bristol Country District Attorney Thomas Quinn

Bristol County Sheriff Thomas Hodgson

The ballot for candidates running for federal seats will be finalized at the end of the day on June 7.
